Wellness is the quality or state of being healthy in body and mind, especially as the result of deliberate effort. Our House Senior Living strives for personal wellness of the mind, body, and soul. We believe in promoting a healthy environment by enriching the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual needs of our residents.
While living in a social environment, our residents receive thorough health monitoring by our Regional Director of Cares, who will monitor the essential health needs of each resident. The Regional Director of Cares is a Registered Nurse who develops a personal relationship with each resident, understanding an individual’s feelings, needs, and desired care outcomes.
Maintaining strength, flexibility and balance is essential to our resident’s sense of well-being and desire to be as independent as possible. Daily exercise in the Our House communities includes Sit and Be Fit programs, walking challenges, strength training and balance maintenance. We encourage participation to minimize or prevent falls while maintaining and boosting brain health.
Emerging evidence suggests that there are steps you can take to help keep your brain healthier as you age. While staying physically fit and eating a healthy diet are important, studies also show that social activities can reduce stress which helps maintain healthy connections between the brain cells. Our House Senior Living provides daily social activities through its Life Enrichment Program. We provide many social outlets whether it is a special luncheon, a trip to listen to music in the park, or inviting the community in for a special Our House Social.
Mentally stimulating activities strengthen the brain and may even create new nerve cells. Memory games and brain teasers are offered, along with reminiscing and discussion groups.
Our House Senior Living strives to meet the spiritual needs of our residents. While religious services are offered in all of our communities we do not stop there.
There are lovely gardens and patios where residents enjoy the beauty of nature. Residents are welcome to help with the planting and maintenance of our gardens or simply come out and enjoy the colorful flowers. Many of our communities have raised vegetable gardens that residents and staff plant every spring, then spend the summer enjoying the fruit of their labor.
Musicians perform regularly in all of our communities. There are art classes, woodworking, crafting, knitting and sewing activities. Residents are encouraged to continue the same hobbies and activities they enjoyed before they made Our House their home.
